Getting the Most out of Mobile Beat Las Vegas

February 28, 2018 by Jordan Nelson

With the Mobile Beat Las Vegas conference quickly approaching, I thought I would take a few minutes to chat about how I plan to use my time at the conference effectively to improve my business. Educational conferences (especially those targeted directly at our industry, like MBLV) are amazing opportunities for us to gather information, identify weak points in our business, and set goals for improvement. While these meetings can be both fun and relaxing, too many DJs treat them as mere vacations and fail to extract the wealth of advice available. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your conference visit this year.

Take Notes

Above all else, if you are going to take the time to travel to Las Vegas and sit in a seminar room for hours at a time you should be documenting your learning! Take a notebook (or electronic device if that’s your cup of tea) and jot down meticulous notes on how you can better your business. Beforehand, come up with questions you want answered or topics you hope to ask questions about. Don’t just sit idly by during the presentations; the ideas will sink much deeper into your mind if you actively take notes on thoughts that stand out to you.

Ask Questions

One of the greatest aspects of MBLV is that DJs of all skills, talents, and abilities are available to chat with throughout the conference. Industry leaders, the movers and shakers of the mobile DJ world, will be out in the exhibit halls, seminars, and parties for you and I to talk with. Make friends with DJs that inspire you and they can become a fountain of knowledge and friendship in the future.

Actually Spend Time at the Conference

Vegas is an amazing city, with hundreds if not thousands of activities to participate in. But be careful to not wind up spending so much time at the clubs and casinos that you miss out on the reason you came to Vegas in the first place; to learn and network with other DJs! MBLV has activities going on throughout the entire day, so there is sure to always be something going on without having to venture to far from the show.
