wedding ly3Surprise wedding video featuring all 250 guests creates social media sensation for Orlando couple.

The recent wedding of Robert and Teresa Ly of Orlando was a grand event that truly ended on a high note. Relying on Electro-Voice Live X powered loudspeakers to deliver rich, clear audio – along with last-minute instructions for the choreography – the happy couple danced their way through over seven minutes of popular music to create an epic wedding music video that literally involved all 250 guests at the reception, all in one take and with no rehearsal.

“It was awesome,” said DJ Mark Houghton of Orlando DJ & Lighting. “They wanted something unique and fun that involved everyone, and it had to be a surprise. The bride and groom were the only ones who knew, and we worked together to come up with the music mix. The guests got their instructions in an envelope taped under each table just 10 minutes before the shoot. Everything went as planned.”

The video has broken into the mainstream media via online and TV news outlets including CNN, Huffington Post, and Time.com, and in print publications like the New York Daily News and the Daily Mail in England. Between Facebook, YouTube, and various online news and entertainment sites, viewership has quickly crossed the 4 million barrier, with no sign of stopping. Viral viewership via shares is now likely in the tens of millions. The Ly couple, who own a fun ninja-themed Orlando restaurant, Sus Hi Eatstation, are ecstatic.

For the reception, Houghton used two ELX115P mains and one ELX118P subwoofer. He knew that sound quality would be a key component in making the video a success, but wasn’t worried.

“The sound of EV loudspeakers actually brings us business,” Houghton says. “In fact, we got this job because the wedding planner knows our reputation for sound quality, and Electro-Voice is all we use for our PA systems and wireless mics. Orlando DJ & Lighting is all about getting people on the dance floor and having fun. So when we come across a bride and groom like this, who really want to do something fun and off the wall, we jump on it. And it was a blast!”
