Be The Faucet

October 15, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
faucet drain focus positivityI read a quote recently and it hit me straight between the eyes.  I’ve been both of these in my life and I’m not afraid or ashamed to admit it. Be the faucet...not the drain. Be the faucet where those get inspiration from.  Be the faucet where people get knowledge from. Be the faucet where those you come in contact with get energy from. Give to give to someone else.  Powerful. Don't be the drain that is sucking all the bad crap into your life.  Don’t be the drain that is sucking the negative energy into your life or bringing it down into someone else’s life.   The faucet is w... Two Ways and Two Words To Be More Able

October 8, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
Last week we spoke about two words (Really and?) to entice people to share more with you and we also covered the first word to be more able - personable.  This week we continue with the another way to be more able - Memorable Empathy equals excellence.  You create connection when you create an emotional experience for your potential client.  How can you create an emotional experience for a potential client? How can you ensure that once you both go your separate ways from the connection that you stay memorable with the person.  How can you guarantee that they think about you long after your parting? Here's one idea. ... [read more]

Dreams, Actions & Purpose Statements

July 23, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
Martin Luther King Jr. is honored due to inspiring people with his “I have a dream” speech, and helping break down racial barriers.  Do you have to dream to achieve something? I never dreamed in a million years that I would be able to do what I do today. I never dreamed I would be charging $3500 to $6500 for my services back when i started my company in 2003.  I never dreamed I would make a living at this. I never dreamed I would travel internationally and speak to over a thousand of ... [read more]

Respect Is A Two Way Street Part 2

July 16, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
Last week we began with the discussion of how respect is a two way street and gave you the first way to accomplish this.  Here are the other two ways to ensure you keep respect when given an opportunity. .  Before you say yes to the opportunity be sure you can represent the brand or person giving you the opportunity effectively.  If you can’t represent them appropriately then you are doing them a disservice by even accepting the opportunity. Do the right thing and move on.    Never bitch about said opportunity in a backchannel.  What’s a backchannel? Any place where information is spread about someone else.  It’s... [read more]

Share Your Heart Part 2

June 6, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
We continue with the HEART series with the next letter in the acronym for HEART.  E is for Emotion. Emotion In sales, it’s VITAL to get to the emotion.  Emotion is what most sales are based off of. People buy on emotion and justify on logic. You must tug at their heartstrings to appeal to their emotions.  How do you do that? YOU have to have heart. Let’s look at a typical sales scenario.  Most event pros ask: “So how do you want your event to be remembered?”  Most couples respond to that question by saying “Fun, Memorable” (Isn’t that just a derivative of the word remembered?).  The answers are TOO ... Celebrate Success Part 2

June 4, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
At the beginning of the season we have also had photo shoots to boost morale, and/or given out company branded shirts and have some friendly competition at a meeting with a mix-off.  We also celebrate successes each and every month too. At our monthly meeting we’ll discuss successful events and what we did to make them a success. This information is shared with everyone so they all can benefit.  Finally, we have a weekly meeting with our in-office team where we share successes as well at a high level of the company so motivation remains constant and we are all working towards the same goal. I encourage you and invite... [read more]

Share Your Heart Part 1

Share your HEART In sales, it’s VITAL to get to the emotion.  People buy on emotion and justify on logic. You must tug at their heartstrings to appeal to their emotions.  How do you do that? You have to have HEART. Heart is an acronym that I recently developed and as we go deeper in the article series you'll learn what each letter stands for and how it applies to your sales process.  We start with H.   Hugs In his Getting What You’re Worth seminar Mark Ferrell (www.MarkFerrell.com) shocked the DJ communities when he proudly stated that he hugs his clients.  Now you may be saying to yourself “Well that’s... Celebrate Successes Part 1

May 28, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
Every year seems to have its own challenges.  Hell for some of us, every DAY has its own challenges.  Instead of wallowing in the negativity of the challenges and failures that one has in a day, week, month or year, you should celebrate the successes instead.  I learned of a (new to me) acronym recently. FAIL. First Attempt In Learning. Don’t think of something as a fail, think of it as a first attempt in learning.  By thinking of it that way that “failure” is just another step in your learning path of your life. As you move forward, how are you not focusing on the FAIL and yet celebrating the successes?   One i... [read more]

How Are You Being Fed Part 3

April 30, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
What are you listening to?  What are you absorbing? Having a positive affirmation each day can help you begin each day in a positive manner and things are what you are absorbing from inanimate objects. And specifically I'm talking about the podcast you listen to the shows you watch the books, you read the things that you absorb every day.  I began my seminar Creative Consultations at Mobile Beat 2011 with a video of a young girl showing off her positive mantras in front of her sink from a viral video back then. Before you watch the news or pick up that magazine, ask yourself “Is that a positive influence on my life?” How... [read more]

Make Eye Contact Part 2

April 25, 2019 by Mitch Taylor
Here’s an etiquette tip.  During a recent workshop I had the pleasure of conducting I went around the room of seated attendees and introduced myself.  I made it a point to specifically greet them by name, smile, look them in the eye and then outstretched my hand to touch both internally and externally the person I was trying to connect with.  NOT ONE of the workshop attendees stood up to shake my hand. Proper etiquette states that when someone introduces himself or herself to you and you are seated and they are standing that you stand up, look them in the eyes and extend your hand and with a firm but warm handshake to make ...
