Over on my Facebook page, I posted a simple question: What was your First Dance song at your wedding?
The following nineteen songs, all varying in genre – contemporary, country, classic rock, crooners, soul, indie, alternative, etc. – were posted in the comments. And all of them serve as great suggestions for engaged couples struggling to pick that perfect First Dance song.
In no particular order, here are Nineteen First Dance Song Ideas, as selected by actual couples:
Bryan Adams – “Everything I Do (I Do It All For You)”
Al Green “Let’s Stay Together”
Edwin McCain – “I Could Not Ask For More”
Brad Paisley – “Then”
Tony’s Note: Also check out the piano mix version of this song.
Luke Bryan – “To The Moon & Back”
Tony’s Note: If Luke Bryan releases this as a single, this will be a popular First Dance selection. If he doesn’t, it will be a unique selection you’ll only find on this blog and a reason why you should still listen to the full album of your favorite artists.
Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong – “The Nearness of You”
Stevie Nicks and Don Henley – “Leather and Lace”
Blake Shelton – “God Gave Me You”
Lifehouse – “You and Me”
Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat – “Lucky”
Jason Jones – “You’re My Favorite”
SafetySuit – “Never Stop”
Tony’s Note: Looking for a First Dance song with a little more edge to it? Press play on this song, as it hits you right from the start.
Firehouse – “Love of a Lifetime”
Etta James – “At Last”
George Strait – “I Cross My Heart”
Alabama – “Dixieland Delight”
Tony’s Note: This song starts slow and builds towards a very uptempo finish. Take some dance lessons and surprise the hell out of your guests during your First Dance 🙂
Rascal Flatts – “Bless The Broken Road”
Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black – “When I Said I Do”
Michael Bublè – “Crazy Love”
Tony’s Note: Van Morrison may have done it first, but Bublè made it better (which he typically does with his covers). And I say that as a man who love Van Morrison’s music.
