The 80s 90s Something Wedding Cocktail Hour

November 20, 2015 by Gregg Hollmann

80s_90s_Something_Cover_MixcloudIn creating this playlist, the original thought was to make it a 90s music set. However, once getting started, I realized that many of the tracks that I enjoyed in the 1990s were in fact from the late 1980s. Accordingly, the playlist was rebranded as “The 80s 90s Something Wedding Cocktail Hour Playlist.” The musical selections that follow mostly derive from the R&B spectrum, with representative artists including Sade, Soul II Soul, Terence Trent D’Arby, Lisa Stansfield, George Michael, Seal, Babyface, Sinead O’Connor and even disgraced lip-syncers Milli Vanilli. The late 80s/early 90s were some of the best years of my life. Many of these fond memories are re-created in this playlist.

For a signature cocktail, a bottle of “Zima” – the once popular “alcopop” beverage produced by Miller-Coor was selected. Sadly, Zima was discontinued in 2008 but its memory lives on via this blog.

Below the playlist, be sure to check out the continuous one hour “80s 90s Something Playlist” on Mixcloud that includes the majority of the playlist. Also, stay tuned for future installments that will include a “90s Rock” cocktail hour playlist and a “Boy Bands” playlist skewed towards the 90s.
