Seven Social Media Books DJs Should Read

November 4, 2015 by Tony Schwartz

stack-of-booksThere’s a plethora of social media knowledge on the internet; just Google “social media tips” and you’ll find thousands, if not millions, of  articles on the subject. And while that’s great and all, most articles offer the same generic tips. Unless their is a change in a platform – such as Twitter’s change this week from stars to hearts – most “general” social media articles are nothing more than SEO fluff.

So, mobile DJs, rather than write another article on general tips to get started, I’m going to give you the greatest tip of all. Are you ready?

Pick up a book on social media. Books don’t care about SEO.

Why a book? Because the best ones write blueprints for how to create content for the platforms; as well as tell you which platforms to focus on for your target market. This isn’t rocket science. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest are the big three, with Twitter as number four. Any of the others (LinkedIn, Vine, Tumblr) are a waste of your time.

Your mobile DJ company isn’t a Fortune 500 Company. You don’t need to be there.

So, with that said, I wanted to give you a list of seven social media books you should look into, and you should buy at least three of them. Why three? Because one opinion and viewpoint is never enough when it comes to art form. And yes, social media is an art form, just as much as it is a science.

Kinda like DJing, no? So, here we go, Seven Social Media Books DJs Should Read:

1) Likeable Social Media by Dave KerpenAmazon Link

2) The Art of Social Media by Guy KawasakiAmazon Link

3) Social Media: Dominating Strategies for Social Media Marketing by Michael RichardsAmazon Link

4) The Book on Facebook Marketing by Nick UnsworthAmazon Link

5) Social Media Optimization For Dummies by Ric ShrivesAmazon Link

6) Color Your Message: The Art of Digital Marketing & Social Media by Lisa CaprelliAmazon Link
