Last time I talked about our local wedding networking group that has big benefits when participating in. Next are other professional groups that enable you to go to the next level. In Birmingham, Al we have a group called C.A.H.A.B.A. (Central Alabama Hospitality, Attractions & Business Association). This group consist of the area’s hotels sales people, local attractions, the convention bureau & vendors that provide services for events. The main core of business is conventions & events that are being held in our city. Being in the know & networking with those that are, is the secret!
Another group, that is very important to network with, is your local Convention & Visitors Bureau. Their number one job is to bring conventions & meetings to your city! That’s how they justify themselves. Not only can you discover what events are coming 1-3 years out but they themselves need entertainment for their efforts.
Don’t forget about the national associations like ISES (International Special Event Society) & NACE (National Association of Catering Executives). What better group to establish yourself than with a group based on events! Unfortunately we don’t have either group in our city but I have traveled to nearby chapters to visit. Both have regional & national conventions that pull out all of the stops!
