Have you heard of the 90% rule? Before we get into this post, let me be completely transparent. I did research on this topic and it’s very interesting and actually exciting! However, I stumbled across (well watching a video) from Tia Lopez and he spun it as his “rule”.
That said, here is my take on the 90% rule. The “90%” rule created by Tai Lopez, (TaiLopez.com) basically states that most people spend their lives living in the 10%. They think about, “Well, here comes Friday night”, “Here comes Memorial Day”, “Here comes the 4th of July”, “Here comes…” one night to celebrate. And they don’t really focus on what’s important, which is the 90%. Everything happens in the 90%. What you do most of the time determines where you’re emotional, physically, psychologically, neurologically.
So here is the net-net behind the rule: When you change your behavior over a two-week period, you create new ‘electrical’ connections called neuro pathways, in your brain. Neural pathways are like superhighways of nerve cells that transmit messages. You travel over the superhighway many times, and the pathway becomes more and more solid. Because of neuroplasticity, the brain’s ever-changing potentials, anything is possible.
Here is one example of how to rewire your brain and create a neural pathway: Interrupt your thoughts and patterns when they arise. Say “no” or “cancel” when an old thought or impulse comes in, and say, “I don’t have to do that anymore.” Then turn toward the new neural pathway you’re building and keep on going in the right direction.
The takeaway spend most of your time in the 90%. They say the average American eats shit food 4 times a week. Now, it may not be 90%, but the shit food is shit food. And you know what’s going to happen? You’re going to get fat, you’re going to get a heart attack and you’re going to die. I’m not going to sugar coat it, but that’s what happens.
So, think about what you do 90% of the time because that’s how your life gets determined. Spend 90% of your time thinking about and taking action on having a better diet, eating better, working out more, calling your mom, calling your parents, calling your grandparents, calling your children, calling your friends, people you know like and trust. The things that really matter in life.
Remember, you have greatness within you. Always live your life to the max and we’ll see you next time. – AC
