A few weeks ago, I read an article on LinkedIn that changed my life. Okay, that’s a little dramatic. Wait–it’s not.
It really DID change my life. Each day has become dramatically less stressful and I get to give myself a pat on the back at the end of every day, even when I don’t get “everything” done.
Wanna know what it was?
First, I have to confess something:
I am too busy. I mean, ridiculously busy. I have a To Do List that’s 100 miles long and never ends.
It’s depressing, overwhelming and frustrating. Maybe you can relate?
So when I came across an article called, “How to Simplify Your Life in 5 Minutes a Day,” it immediately grabbed my attention.
These simple actions gave me focus, reduced stress immediately and boosted my productivity…without making me feel guilty about everything Iwasn’t doing!
Yes, it was life-changing.
The #1 reason why you don’t have the wedding business you really want is because you’re too busy and overwhelmed to take the actions you need to get there.
Here are my main takeaways from this article that you can use to simplify your life TODAY:
1) Write down your 6 most important activities to work on today. Now cross off the 5 least important ones and set aside at least one hour to focus on your #1.
I started making this a new rule: what’s the ONE THING I have to accomplish today?
As long as I do that one thing, I get a gold star. No more endless To Do List. Just one thing.
Of course, I do more than one thing (usually) but everything after that #1 priority is gravy. The “Power of One” prioritizing was a revelation!
2) Pause once every hour and ask yourself, “Is this the most important thing I could be working on?” If the answer is no, STOP what you’re doing immediately.
It’s so easy to sucked into distraction these days. My husband is a prime example. (I’ll pick on him because he can’t defend himself in this email.)
One minute he’s putting away the groceries, the next he’s rearranging the pantry while the chicken is melting on the kitchen counter.
The internet makes it incredibly tempting to check Facebook and lose the next hour watching YouTube videos or posting clever memes. You know what I’m talking about.
This simple question will get you back on track every time.
3) Think through tomorrow’s schedule before going to bed. Set yourself up for maximum success doing your planned tasks.
For example, if you need to send a proposal to a client, outline the details and get them ready to go when your work day starts. If your first task is getting to the gym, set your shoes and workout clothes out beside the bed so that you’d literally have to step over them.
Remove as much friction as possible and set yourself up for success. You’ll get more done without the stress.
Our Wedding Business Blueprint video series we’re sharing with you is based on taking simple actions like this that will make a profound and lasting effect on your business and your bottom line.
You don’t have to overhaul your entire life today. In fact, I highly recommend that you don’t.
Just take ONE of these suggestions and put it to use today. 5 minutes is enough to change your life.
Which of these tips will you use in your wedding business?
