Formula for the perfect school dance

November 13, 2010 by Ric Hansen

Let me start by saying….formulas are only a starting place. A guide. An idea. When it comes to real life, formulas are meant to be tampered with.

That being said, let me give you a winning formula idea for a school dance that can be a great guide.

60%  Current Top 40 (From our Safe Songs list) Of  this group 70 % should be from the Hip Hop/Rap category and 30% from Pop/Rock.

20%  “Recurrents” or Old School:  should be the extremely familiar songs that are either just off the charts in the past year or older.

10% Novelty Songs – that add some surprise twists to the dance. like Billie Jean, Ice Ice Baby, Twist and shout etc. Out of left field.

10% Group dances. Cha Cha, Electric Slide, The Doogie, Cupid shuffle etc.

This mix works.  How you put it together is the magic.  Keeping it clean and school appropriate is your ticket back for the next dance.
