Plug & Play Replaces Plug & Pray

July 8, 2016 by Scott Jarema
The 2016 NAMM Show back in January in Anaheim, California was an exciting event for all musically-oriented types including us DJs. While 171-at-jerema1perusing all the goodies on display there (including Pioneer’s CDJ “TIE Fighter” and “Millennium Falcon” CDJ models) I couldn’t help but notice two trends in our market this year. We are seeing a movement away from the laptop in digital controller DJ arena. Most indicative of this was the launch of Denon DJ’s MCX8000 controller, featuring Denon’s “Engine” software along with Serato DJ compatibility. It’s All About That BASS

June 21, 2016 by Scott Jarema

Weighing in at a hefty 110 lbs, the DXS18 is all business. ... [read more]

Back then it was “Do I buy a set of Technics SL1200 turntables or another brand?” Professional-grade CD decks   were just starting to show up on the market at that time too. I was fortunate that my first DJ job was with a company that already had systems you would sign out. We had a set of... [read more]

To Amp or Not to Amp?

November 6, 2015 by Scott Jarema

ActivePassive-grille-sqTHAT IS THE QUESTION

One of the best things about being a mobile DJ today is the almost endless variety of equipment we have available to us to do our job. Today’s DJ can choose from traditional turntables running vinyl or DVS software to DJ controllers, and even tablets. No matter your budget or personal needs, there is something that will fit the bill. Of course this always stirs up debate as to which is best option with regards to choosing the best speakers for our set up.read more]
