Sowing The Seeds Of Love

July 13, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Sowing The Seeds Of Love No...it's not just a Tears For Fears track from the 80s...but the cutesy title I came up with for this article. "If you want to grow a prize-winning pumpkin, you've got to plant a prize winning pumpkin seed."   THANK YOU to Jason Spencer of Spencer Weddings for turning me on to this quote from a great book entitled "The Pumpkin Plan" by Mike Michalowicz.  Jason is a polished speaker and I have had the pleasure of introducing my good friend.  After a con... The Phrase That Pays – Can

July 11, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
The Phrase That Pays - Can   We are on the second installment of our Phrase That Pays here for MobileBeat.com. We’re looking at the CAN of How CAN I Help You? What can you do in your business? That’s another layer of what this series is really all about. Again, the “How Can I Help You?” phrase gets bandied about often, but the key is taking it to heart and examining it from your customer’s eyes. By definition the word “can” means to be able to or be permitted to. When I think of the word “can” I think of the popular children’s book “The Little Engine That Could” by Watty Pipe... [read more]

How Do You Sound?

July 6, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
How do you sound? The plane began to free fall for at least three seconds but it felt like thirty.  Bumpiness under your seat and your stomach hits the back of your throat as you lurch back up again only to plunge for a few more seconds which feels like a minute.  Just as we start to level off the captain comes over the loudspeaker to say "everyone please return to your seats" in the most panicked voice and tone I have ever heard a pilot use. read more]

The Phrase That Pays Part 1 – How

July 4, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
There’s a phrase that pays in business and we will explore that exact phrase over the next few articles of mine here at Mobile Beat.  This single phrase will pay you one way or another depending on how you use this phrase. I just gave you one of the words in this phrase.  The phrase is “How Can I Help You?  Now…that's a throwaway phrase in our society for the vast majority of businesses. However, if you say it with purpose, with meaning and sincerity, it can put you on the path to the sale. I believe that this phrase and frankly every step of the sales process needs a dissection to truly unde... [read more]

Rip Off The Rearview

June 29, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Rip off the rearview mirror.  Don't look back.  Always keep improving. I got a call from a fellow DJ out of the blue the other day and his statements somewhat surprised me.  He said biz had slowed down and he was struggling a bit.  He blamed it on himself first saying he hadn't been beating the pavement as much as he had in the past but then upon my suggestion of things he could do to better his situation (after all he did call me, right), the verbal posturing began and suddenly the blame... Impact

June 27, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Impact.   Impact, the word, is defined as to impinge or make contact especially forcefully. How are you having an impact on someone else's life?  What impact do you have on people? Who do you help?   Here's a funny thing. What's the average number of people at a wedding reception? About 200 ish, right? What's the average number of people at a funeral?  About the same...200 ish give or take.  The reality is you have the same number of people at the start of your life as adults and becoming married as you do at the clos... Be In The Moment

June 22, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Be in the moment I went thru the McDonald's drive thru early this morning to get a mocha.  I'm greeted by the auto attendant in a cheerful voice saying " welcome to McDonald's would you like to try a hot mocha?".   I respond "Yes, can I have a large mocha please?" and the same voice comes back with "I'm sorry sir our mocha machine is broken".  I was a bit surprised but then again this is McDonalds we are talking about.   read more]

Six Ways To Create A Buying Atmosphere

June 20, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
One of my favorite Jeffrey Gitomer quotes is “People don't like to be sold but they love to buy.”  If that’s true, then we need to study specifically how to create a buying atmosphere.  Let’s dive right in and give you six ways to create a buying atmosphere in today’s post.
  1. Use verbiage that is conversational.  Just the other day I was coaching a fellow DJ and his response to a client was really long and drawn out, with a lot more “I’s” and “me’s”.  It’s much better to be conve... [read more]

Product and Solution Focused

June 13, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Windstar Cruising.  It was absolutely was one of the best vacation experiences of my life. My wife and I went on a ship that was literally one tenth the size of a ship that I used to work on, it was a yacht. The larger ships have everyone lining up in different places, except for a VIP experience to get you on board if you reach platinum status with them.  Windstar was different.  The level of customer service was so unique and different.  Instead of many people rolling into a ship, they had staged waiting areas for different sets of people.  However,...
