Balance

September 12, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Balance to me is so crucial.  I worked a ton this past Sunday, got a lot done (yes on Sunday yes Sunday Sabbath...as an entrepreneur sometimes you have to work to get ahead). However, I still took time out to make my family Jucy Lucy burgers.  I still took time out to compliment my daughter on her attire when she went shopping with my wife last night.  I want to encourage you to find balance even if you are a workaholic. Maybe you are more of a slacker and can’t find the motivation to work.  To me, you need to find joy in your work.  Find joy in the little things, in the breaks from your work.  This morn... Why you should pay for training

September 7, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
WHY you should PAY for training! (You should share all you know for free!) Part 1 What do you get for free these days? It seems this age old debate rears its ugly head every six months or so on some chat board or FB group where someone complains about the “10 or so” high end DJ/Salesman/Educators who “highly supplement their income” on teaching other DJs to become better. In my opinion this is ludicrous. First off…if one wants to learn anything doesn’t one pay for higher education? What do you g... [read more]

In Order To Lead You Must First Be Led

September 5, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Leadership, Taylored Sales, Mitch Taylor, Gitomer Licensed TrainerIn order to lead you must first be led. Some people would look at this as a controversial statement You may think “I don't have to be led to lead I can just get up and lead.” You are led. Every leader was led in some way shape or form. Let's look at a recent event if you will and how that has transpired for that leader. I’m speaking of the quarterback of the most recent Super Bowl Champion, New England Patriot’s own Tom Brady. Tom was asked a while back who the most inspira... [read more]

Do you give good phone part 2

August 31, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Now…what do you say? It’s not only WHAT you say, it’s HOW you say it. (Thanks Mark Ferrell) When you are on the phone with a potential client…are you sitting down? Are you standing up? Are you preoccupied with the TV or the computer in front of you? Is it noisy in the background or are you in a quiet place where you can place all of your concentration on that person on the phone with you? I encourage you to practice your phone calls in the mirror. Stand up and take a deep breath before answering the phone. SMILE. Your client can hear your smile on the other end of the phone. The warmth in your voice will come through ... [read more]

Evolution

August 29, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Evolution I shared a quote on my Facebook wall recently that said “Things aren’t necessary for love.” I thought about it and then about an hour later I revised it to say “It’s not things that are necessary for love, but actions.” Now that was a very quick evolution of thought that I wrote down. What are you doing to improve in certain areas? I recently had the opportunity to take Bill Hermann’s Entertainment Experience workshop. Even though I had taken the workshop in various forms over the years a few times before, I STILL got a lot out of it because I am a different person than I was all those years ago. I hav... Do You Give Good Phone Part 1

August 24, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
The phone is a potential first point of contact that a client may have with you.  Let’s start with what system you use.  Do you only have a cell phone?  VOIP?  Landline?  What is your preferred communication?  Even in today’s day and age of everything being online, I wouldn’t rely on your primary business communication with clients to be this way.  What if your ISP goes down or you lose service?  This is why it’s important to have backup in all cases.  What about your cell phone?  Is it reliable?  Does your service area have dead spots?  (Whose doesn’t?)  How would you fee... T-E-A-M

August 22, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
This past Super Bowl was probably the most improbable and best comeback of all time in the NFL.  Myself being a Patriots fan it was an amazing experience.  Some have even called it the greatest Super Bowl of all time, which I don’t agree with frankly.  The outcome of the game isn’t what is important however.  It’s the message that is sent and lesson learned from the game.  I’d like to share with you three lessons that I took away from that cold night in February.
  1.  TEAM.  If you’ve followed my writings for a while you know that I’m a big fan of acrony... [read more]

Artistry Part 2

August 17, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
This week we continue the second part of our article on Artistry with the 3rd and 4th of our words, Props and Inspiration Your props are your microphone, sound equipment, lighting, photo booth...whatever you can use to your advantage to help create whatever  it is you want to create.  Your script once again is time.  The finite time that a couple has that evening in which to tell their story and the days that you and they have leading up from after they hire me until the day they say I do.   read more]

4 Ways To Build Trust

August 15, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Four Ways To Build Trust.    In this article we are going to explore three ways to build trust.  The first way is straight from my book “S.A.L.E.S. 4 Event Pros” and that is Share Your Story First. There are lots of reasons why to share your story first.  The first one is to allow your clients get acclimated to their surroundings. Most times they've never really walked into a place of business and then met with an event professional before. Set yourself and your clients up for success. Another way to build trust in this situation is to let them know where ... [read more]

Artistry Part 1

August 10, 2017 by Mitch Taylor
Artistry My dear friend and mentor Bill Hermann during his workshop "The Entertainment Experience" recently reminded me (and all attendees) of the Shakespearean quote from "As You Like It" written nearly 400 years ago "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely playersread more]
