Why a Line Array? – By Jake Feldman

November 6, 2014 by Jake Feldman
A NEW APPROACH IS NEEDED FOR LARGE-SCALE DJ SOUND
line-arraySo many times, we hear of DJs bringing in the wrong sound system for the situation at hand. I’ve been guilty of it a time or two based upon availability, truck space, and budget of client. What, you might ask, is the wrong sound system for an application? For example, if you have to use 12 full-range cabinets in a stacked configuration aimed at being loud in a hanger-type space, you might just have the wrong system for the application. But there’s a solution, which comes from the realm of l... [read more]

California (Gear) Love BY: Jake Feldman

March 9, 2012 by Jake Feldman
ONCE AGAIN, NAMM DAZZLES WITH A SUNSHINE STATE OF EQUIPMENT BLISS 141-316 The truth is, NAMM is looked at every year as a chance by midwest music gear retailers, northern media nerds, and northeastern exhibitors alike as a chance to escape the frozen tundra in their hometowns and travel to a place less wintery. Sure, there's smog, heavy traffic and a unusual rodents, but SO-CAL is better than NO-CAL in January. Put together an escape from the cold with the siren call of new entertainment technology, and you have a winning combination for gearheads ev... [read more]

Ratcheting Up the Revenue: An Event Snapshot

March 9, 2012 by Jake Feldman
ON BEING A DJ-ORIENTED PRODUCTION COMPANY In life, just as in business, there are clients and customers who you prefer working with, and some, not so much. Then, there are those who you absolutely love working with, and who actually consult you on decisions pertinent to your area of the production. This is a story of the latter. Every year, we provide production services for Iowa DECA, which is a high school business and marketing group who's main objective is to ready students for college, the business world and beyond. This, combined with real world training makes DECA an outstanding organization and also means the students involved with it are very bright, very professional and pleasant to work with. Normally, only sound and minimal lighting and video is required for their twice-y... Live From The DJ Tour: LA

August 23, 2010 by Jake Feldman
Danno and the gang at the LA chapter of the ADJA proved as great hosts as we are rocking tonight in LA! Ben Stowe is on stage right now giving a great presentation on lighting and Jason Spencer gave an outstanding talk. Special thanks to pioneer DJ ( jay Brennan and Ryan Barnes in the house). And also much love to my Buddy Nick Andrews--who is wrapping his tour tonight in LA after being at all of the stops. Nick owns and created Open Air Photo Booths--a great product by a great person! Cheers, and see you in the bay area! Jake

Live from the DJ Tour: Raliegh

August 11, 2010 by Jake Feldman
Apologies for the delay in the post--this week has of course been fun, albeit busy out here on the road! Kudos to William Beasley in Raleigh for his leadership and dedication to the tour and hosting the stop! Attendees alike commented that the show was great and also praised the hard work of William and his company, Rockstar Entertainment, for hosting! We also saw a few familiar faces, like that of Bill Smith (of start.mobilebeat.com fame) and our friends Jaimie and Bobby with QSC Audio. On to Charlotte!

Live from the DJ tour: Richmond

August 10, 2010 by Jake Feldman
Well actually not live, but still recovering from the phenomenal stop last night in Richmond! JB Bostic and Liz Daly outdid themselves in our first ever visit to the capital of the south--proving to be the best stop of this leg so far. Attendance was great and Ben and Jason honed in their seminars into perfect synergy to create an awesome lighting night (sales AND operation). Thanks to all who made last night what it was and we'll see you next year Richmond! See you all in Raleigh, Jake
