DJ Intelligence Accommodates Global Address Standards

July 29, 2008

DJ Intelligence is used by thousands of companies in over a dozen countries worldwide. We know that formats for addresses are different from country to country. So rather than forcing you to use a specific term for address components, such as “city” or “state” or “zip”, we instead give you full control over these terms. On the Master Settings page of your control panel you are be able to enter any term you want for all the components that make up an address. Use “House Number and Street” instead of “Address”? Use “Town” instead of “City”? Use “County” or “Province” instead of “State”? Use “Postal Code” instead of “Zip”? These changes are quick and simple with this capability. You may already know that our services automatically reverse the date format for non-US companies, we allow you to change to any currency from the dollar, and we allow you to add special regional VAT/service taxes. Giving you full control over the address elements is just another step to ensure our services respect and reflect the needs of the various regions of the world.

3-in-1 Lamps = 7 Colors!

July 28, 2008

American DJ’s Breakthrough Tri-Color LED Technology
Gives DJ/Club LED Effects A Rainbow Of Color Possibilities

LOS ANGELES – American DJ has taken LED technology out of the red-green-blue groove — and into the future — with the introduction of three new DJ/club effects that can produce bright beams of light in as many colors as are in a rainbow! The company’s new Tri Pearl LED, Tri Phase, and Saturn Tri LED System feature advanced-design LEDs, with each individual lamp capable of producing seven colors: yellow, purple, cyan, red, green, blue and white.

The secret behind this array of colors is American DJ’s exclusive new Tri-Color LED Technology. Each of the effects’ LED lamps is actually comprised of three different-color 1W LEDs, a red, green and blue. This revolutionary 3-in-1 design allows color-mixing to be done inside each individual lamp, creating a whole spectrum of color possibilities, unlike traditional LED effects with single-color lamps that can produce only one-color beams.

“Our new Tri-Color LED Technology gives lighting users the excitement of being able to create a variety of multi-colored beams, while at the same time enjoying all of the benefits of LEDs, such as a long lamp life, low power draw and cool operating temperature,” said Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies.

“With LED effects in the past, you were typically limited to red, green and blue beams,” explained Davies. “In these traditional RGB LED fixtures, you could create different color washes by turning off certain lamps and using others in varying degrees of intensity, but each individual lamp was limited to one color. Tri-Color Technology takes LEDs to the next level by mixing colors inside the lamps, so that the lamps themselves change colors.”

Here’s how American DJ’s Tri-Color LED Technology works: In the past, if you wanted to create the color purple with a traditional single-color RGB LED effect, you would have to shut off all the green LEDs, and only the red and blue lamps would remain on, producing a wash-like purple effect. But with the new 3-in-1 Tri-Color LED Technology, all lamps stay on continuously and the purple color appears in each lens, creating individual beams of purple light. Tri-Color Technology also results in a more vibrant, even-toned mixed color, and it eliminates the annoying multi-color shadows that commonly appear on objects and surfaces illuminated by single-color RGB LED fixtures. The results are beautiful, sharp, vibrant multi-color beams of even-toned color – literally at the flick of a switch.

American DJ is introducing this remarkable technology in three mobile LED moonflower effects – the Tri Pearl LED, the Tri Phase, and the Saturn Tri LED System. By offering three units at different price points, American DJ has ensured there is something for everyone – from mobile DJs, to club owners to musicians and other lighting users.

All of the units provide users with the many benefits of LEDs, including long-life lamps that are rated at 50,000 hours. Extremely energy efficient, each unit has a bright output comparable to a 250W halogen effect, based on visual comparison, but draws only a fraction of the power. Here’s a closer look at the new Tri-Color LED effects:

Tri Pearl LED – When a basic, but powerful, moonflower is desired, the Tri Pearl LED is the ideal choice. An extremely compact and lightweight high-output moonflower unit with a single 3W Tri-Color RGB LED, the Tri Pearl LED is perfect for mobile DJs, as well as small venues and events. Although it’s compact, it still packs a wallop, with a wide beam spread and bright, rich saturated colors that look great with or without fog. The Tri Pearl LED is 9″ x 11.75″ x 8″ and weighs 3 lbs. It has a high-tech, lightweight plastic case design and comes with a hanging bracket. The MSRP is $239.95.

Tri Phase – A unique-looking moonflower effect, the Tri Phase features five hexagonal-shaped lenses that produce 57 beams of rich, color-saturated LED light. With a beam angle of 65°, the Tri Phase LED’s brilliant beams cover the dance floor with a display of gorgeous color. The unit can produce quick, accurate movements or slow, fluid moves, thanks to its 1.8 degree long life stepper motor technology. The Tri Phase measures 7.25″ x 12″ x 13″ and weighs 4 lbs. Although comparable to a 250W halogen effect in output, the Tri Phase draws only 12.5W of power. The MSRP is $319.95.

Saturn Tri LED System – A four-unit system, the Saturn Tri LED System is a complete light show in a box that includes 4 x Saturn Tri LED fixtures, a universal UC-3 controller and 3 x 3-pin XLR linking cables. It’s an ideal easy-to-use, all-in-one system for smaller clubs and venues. Each individual unit has six lenses that produce eight brilliantly sharp beams. It also has fast-to-slow strobing capabilities and 0-100% electronic dimming for an even greater variety of effects. Each of the Saturn Tri LED System’s four units measures 8.75″ x 12″ x 5″ each and weighs 4 lbs. Each unit draws only 7W of power. The MSRP is $899.95.

All three of the new Tri-Color Technology effects are DMX-512 compatible, having either 3 (Tri Pearl LED) or 4 (Tri Phase and Saturn Tri LED System) DMX channels. They can also be run as stand-alone moonflowers without a controller in Sound-Active mode, since they’re equipped with exciting built-in programs. Like all LED effects, they run at an extremely cool temperature, so duty cycles are not needed. The sparkling colors and fantastic effects will go on all night long

Hard Rock Amusement Park with Peavey Audio

July 24, 2008

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Hard Rock Park, the world’s first rock ‘n’ roll theme park, is a multifaceted musical experience that brings to life the iconic music that changed the course of music history and continues to influence generations of music fans.Located in the Atlantic Coast resort town of Myrtle Beach, this $400 million music fan’s dream boasts themed rock ‘n’ rollercoasters like “Led Zeppelin: The Ride” and “Eagles: Life in the Fast Lane” among its 50 rides and attractions, and dedicates entire sections of the park to pop-music movements such as the British Invasion, ‘70s era rock and even country music.

Peavey, an icon on the music-products side of the biz with 43 years of innovation and more than 180 technology patents under its belt, worked closely with Hard Rock Park and systems integrator Electrosonic to create an unparalleled music experience. As the first new major attraction built in the U.S. in nearly a decade, Hard Rock Park benefits from the evolution of technology manifested in the Peavey MediaMatrix® NION® audio distribution system, the ribbon-loaded Peavey VersarrayTM line array and the Crest Audio® Pro 200TM Series power amplifiers.

The largest segment of the Hard Rock Park project is the background music and paging system, which consists of a cadre of nine MediaMatrix NION n3 processors that configure and control more than 130 zones of audio covering the entire 55-acre park. MediaMatrix CAB 4n CobraNet break-out boxes convert the uncompressed digital CobraNet audio to analog audio and distribute it to nearly 1,000 Peavey PRTM Series and Impulse® Series loudspeakers that are mounted on poles throughout the resort and weatherized for permanent outdoor installation in South Carolina’s humid climate.

“There are a dozen stage areas throughout the park where a band can set up and plug a mixing console into the MediaMatrix system,” said Tim Smith, Project Engineer at Electrosonic. “Because there are no more than six speakers to each zone, we have the flexibility to narrow the system for live shows. The speakers in that particular zone will then switch over to the live show instead of the BGM.

“That flexibility is all enabled by the MediaMatrix NION,” he added. “There is a rather elaborate GUI at the front end that controls everything. The NION has an additional level of sophistication and an open architecture with additional DSP that other gear doesn’t have.”

Three on-site live-show venues-Hard Rock Live as the premier performance site, plus the Roadie Stunt Show, and Malibu Beach Party attractions-are controlled via individual NION n6 processing nodes that talk to the main system via fiber and transfer CobraNet audio and control information in both directions.

Hard Rock Live features left, center and right Versarray hangs to cover its traditional amphitheater configuration. The left and right line arrays contain seven VR112TM line array enclosures plus three VR218TM subwoofers each, while the center array has four VR112 line arrays and two VR218 subs.

Two pairs of Peavey QW® 2F loudspeakers flank a central LED video screen and help with spillover coverage.

The Roadie Stunt Show and Malibu Beach Party use similar Versarray configurations driven by bridged Crest Audio Pro 9200 amplifiers for the VR218 subwoofers, and Crest Audio Pro 5200TM amps for the VR112 enclosures. Elsewhere in the park, MediaMatrix PageMatrixTM systems enable paging at “Led Zeppelin: The Ride” and “Eagles: Life in the Fast Lane” rollercoasters, and an armament of Crest Audio amplifiers power all of the park’s audio areas.

Founded in 1965, Peavey® is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of musical instruments and professional sound equipment. Peavey has earned more than 180 patents and produces more than 2,000 products, which are
distributed throughout the United States and to 136 other countries. Peavey and its MediaMatrix®, Architectural Acoustics®, PVDJ®, Crest Audio® and Trace Elliot® brands and affiliates can be found on concert stages and in
more than 5,000 airports, stadiums, theme parks and other venues around the world. To find out more, visit www.peavey.com.

Recession Wedding Marketing Tip #1 for the Mobile DJ

July 24, 2008

Wedding Marketing BlogWelcome to the Wedding Marketing Blog – Mobile Beat edition. This special version of the Wedding Marketing Blog will seek to share content it publishes, and add some original, mobile DJ industry specific, wedding marketing information.

As business slows in the current recession cycle, there seems to be a mad scramble for new customers. It is easy to forget that your best sources of referrals and repeat business, is your existing company base.

Often, a customer who has hired your services for a wedding, does not realize that you do company parties or class reunions. A Bar Mitzvah client may not automatically know that you serve school functions. Don’t assume that your clients know the full range of what you can provide. They usually were consumed with their single event, and nothing more.

Take the time to re-establish contact with them by letter or phone, preferably. Avoid the impersonal nature of email.

When it comes to venue contacts or event planners, it’s time for lunch or a cup of coffee to describe your whole range of services. Perhaps you’ve added props, lighting, or photo services. They need to be aware of everything you do, so they can refer or book the maximum from you.

Don’t stop prospecting for new business, but first, mine gold from your existing relationships.

MEP7000 – “Multiple Entertainment Personalities” by J. Richard Roberts

July 22, 2008

Pioneer has taken another large step in the direction of the working mobile DJ with the release of the MEP 7000. The Unit, short for Multiple Entertainment Player, offers the same basic functions as the CDJ series. All comparisons and similarities end there, however, as the MEP 7000 has the ability to play not only CDs, but CD-ROMS, DVD-ROMS, CD-G (Karaoke), and USB media. In addition to standard CD audio discs, the MEP 7000 will also play AAC and Mp3 discs with on screen folder navigation.

SIGHTSEEING
The 7000 is the only unit on the market with a 4.5″ color LCD screen, which possesses stunning color and contrast. Also adding to its versatility and use as a full-fledged Karaoke system, the 7000 has a monitor out that will function as a tele-prompter in a gig setting (or for those who would like the display bigger). While already a great stand alone player of a variety of different sources, the MEP 7000 can also be used as a controller of Pioneer’s own DJ software on most windows based PCs, giving you a controller and player all in one unit.

Effects Galore
Most of us Mobile DJs have been limited by what effects we have received on CD units. We had pitch and tempo, but not too much else. On the 7000, we have a battery to choose from, including phase, echo, Trans, and filter just to name a few (completely TAP controllable). The requisite loop functions are also there, as well as scratch and the aforementioned pitch and tempo.

USE
Navigating files is as scrolling though folders, as there is no need for a keyboard. Switching between sources is also very simple thanks to navigation buttons located on the bottom of the “home screen.” After a couple of hours toying with the unit, even the most novice jock will find him or herself at home. (Do yourself a favor and watch the online “tips and tricks” tutorials)

FINAL VERDICT
I really liked this unit because it gave me the option to integrate CDs back into my rig, which was something that I had phased out completely. I grew tired of having to import every one-off (song I will guarantee you I will play only once) into my system. Nut as it is a hybrid; I don’t have to lug all CDs around either, as all of my digital music plugs right in via USB. Another very handy feature is the ability to play Karaoke with the second monitor output. Much more than that, however, was my ability to learn the system in a span of a couple of hours and be prepared for any format a guest, event planner, or inebriated karaoke patron challenges me with at the click of a button. If other systems are ahead of their time, this system has already been to the future and rescued Doc Brown, then has come back to present day and presented you with an easy menu of playback formats.

Full extensive review of the MEP is coming soon in print, in Mobile Beat Magazine

Do You See Failure or Success? by Heather Dominick

July 20, 2008

I remember attending a meditation workshop with Mark Epstein, a well-known ‘Buddhist psychologist.’ He told a story about a meeting he had with Ram Dass, spiritual teacher and author, where Ram Dass had asked Mark Epstein about his work with his patients. As Mark talked about his work, Ram Dass interrupted him and asked, “Do you see them as already healed?”I was so struck by this story. As a coach and healer of businesses, I saw the clarity in this question. So often as solo-service professionals it is easy to focus on our success by looking at ourselves (what we are doing, creating, visualizing, etc.), but the results are incredible when we turn the focus on those that we serve.

What do you see when you look at your clients or customers? Do you see failure or success?

When I worked as a high school teacher–in moments when my students were working on their own–I would say to myself, “The light in me sees the light in you.” I really felt that. I could see my students succeeding long before they could see it or could even venture to believe it. However, I knew as their teacher it was my duty to hold that vision and energy for them and then guide them through the action steps of getting there. It always worked. I have countless high school teaching success stories.

I see that same (if not more–I’ve learned a lot in the past few years) success for the private and Boot Camp clients I work with now. I literally see them as a successful magazine owner, professional organizer, coach, meditation expert, Feng Shui practitioner…and the list goes on. It continues to work.

I ask you to begin to apply this to your own business. Here are 3 steps to begin SEEING success in those that you serve.

1)Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.

In Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book, The Power of Intention, he sites that, “It turns out that at the tiniest subatomic level, the actual act of observing a particle changes the particle.” This is a clear example of energy affecting energy. If I look at you and see your success, then you begin to create more of and be success! How great is that?

So when speaking to a prospect, customer, or client, instead of questioning your abilities (wondering if you’ll get the sale or joining them in their woes), the most powerful action you can take is to change the way you are looking at the situation. See them as happy, joyful, peaceful, well, successful…and more. You will be effecting a change that will result in more success and abundance for the both of you. (It feels so much better than worry and doubt!)

2)Be constantly giving.

The energy of success is constantly giving and the supply is limitless. When you can come from this place in your own business, you begin to attract more into your life.

I know when I first heard this, it was hard for me to grasp. Mostly, because I used to come from a place of giving, but have one eye immediately on making sure that I was compensated and at the same time convinced that I wouldn’t be. Guess what? I wasn’t and I felt a whole lot of resentment at the same time.

When I shifted my attention to giving for the sake of the success of those that I was serving and simultaneously confidently took care of what I needed for myself and my business (instead of waiting for someone else to do just do it), there was more success ALL around.

3)Detach from the outcome.

When you are able to SEE success, you don’t need to be attached to the outcome because you KNOW that it’s going to be successful. Whenever you are caught up in accumulating (I have to get this client; I have to sell to this customer), then you lose sight of what your main goal is–to see the success of those that you serve.

Find out exactly what’s going on for the person that you’re speaking to. Ask them and ask yourself, what do they need? The answer to this question is usually multi-layered. (For example, prospects that come to me may need more income from their businesses, but they also need to move through the blocks they’ve unconsciously set up for themselves that’s keeping them from getting more money). So, you then SEE them as getting their needs fully met and begin the process of working with that person, so you can help make it happen.

Call To Action:

1) Ask yourself, how do I see my prospects, clients, or customers? Be honest. Just let the answer come. No judgment. It will give you a lot of information.

2) With whatever answer you get now, ask yourself, “How can I improve?” How can I see this situation differently?

3) For one day focus only on those you serve and their success. Write down the difference in how you feel, the results that your clients get, and anything else that pops up.

Website Marketing Tidbits: Social Networks (YouTube)

July 18, 2008

t’s 2:05 AM here in Lake Havasu City, AZ as I sit in my usually messy office.   I just got done responding to a post from one of my Inner Circle Members (really – ask any of the 32 of them) on the topic of YouTube.com. One member, Mr. William “Bill” Nash, writes about how uploading your videos to YouTube lightens the load on your server and saves you bandwidth….

Here are the commonly overlooked advantages to using YouTube

Free Video Player
When you upload your video to YouTube, you then are provided the embed code that you simply copy and paste right into your site. This browser is compatible with almost all internet browsers, as well as operating systems and PCs.  NOTE: If you use Google’s web accelerator on your system, you will not be able to watch YouTube videos, I found it to be a glitch in their system.  That sucks.

Purchased by Google
If they purchased YouTube, then they must have been doing something right…  once more though, Google is giving YouTube postings (yes, even the comments I’ve discovered) more weight as a link to your site, helping to increase your rankings in the search engines. This leads me into my next point —

Descriptions
When you upload a video, you are asked to give a description of the video. As I told Mr. Nash – be sincere with what you put into the description box. You want to entice the viewer to share with their friends and vote for the video.. but most importantly, tell them where to get more information. What does this mean?  Use your URL This includes the http://    and the    www.  Make it flow in there like it was professionally written, because if it looks like an advertisement, it will get treated like an advertisement.

So go… get going!   Go find a video of an event you recently did and upload it to you tube.  Start unleashing the true potential behind YouTube.      What?  You don’t have a video to upload? Find a couple of video’s, and start posting comments on them – but remember, don’t make it look like an AD.

BoNuS TiP : If you don’t have a video – you should.  In todays day-and-age of marketing, the more personal you can make your website the more consultations you’re going to make and the more money that is increased as the bottom line.  Most Digital Cameras have a record movie feature built right into them.  You can place it on the table in front of you and record a personalized welcome and introduction to your company from the privacy of your home or office, and then edit it for free within Window’s built in “MOVIE MAKER 2″, clipping out where you set the camera down and walked away to where you walked back and picked it up – all the garbage… deleted.
To your success!
